Trolley on the Trail

September 11

Trolley rides allow those with physical limitations to experience the beautiful George S. Mickelson Trail. Designed for mobility impaired & elderly primarily, but is for people of all ages who are physically unable to experience the trail. The rides are held in the summer and are approximately 4 hours long. Reservations are REQUIRED. Each person is allowed one assistant to accompany them, if needed. The Trolley has space available for one wheelchair.

Preservation Thursday: A Friendship of the West: Seth Bullock & Theodore Roosevelt

Author and historian, Dr. David Wolff, will look at how Bullock and Roosevelt met, what made them friends, and the events that solidified their friendship.  When Roosevelt died in 1919, Bullock led the Society of Black Hills Pioneers in constructing the Roosevelt or “Friendship” Tower. Hill City Olde Tyme Christmas Parade

A family-friendly event that welcomes Christmas with a parade, Christmas tree lighting, roasted chestnuts, hot cider and cookies, and special guests and events throughout the town’s shops, attractions and train museum.  An old-fashioned small-town lighted parade kicks off at 6p sharp.  Santa visits with children and hands out apples at the SD State Railroad Museum following the parade.  A wonderful tradition to enjoy with your family!
