Lovers’ Leap Snowshoe Hike | Custer State Park

The Lover’s Leap Snowshoe Hike will guide participants through a dense pine forest, meandering near Galena and Grace Coolidge Creek. The three-mile hike is geared toward beginners, allowing participants the opportunity to try the recreational event and explore some of the park’s most beautiful winter scenery. The hike will depart the Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center at 1pm. Snowshoes are provided; however reservations are required to borrow snowshoes by calling 605-255-4515. Sylvan Lake Snowshoe Hike | Custer State Park

Take an easy one-mile guided hike around Sylvan Lake using snowshoes, followed by a one-mile moderate hike up Trail #9 to a vista overlooking the Black Hills and Harney Peak. 6th Annual Black Hills International Sounds of Silence Tesla Road Trip

50 Teslas – $5 million in cars – are making a road trip to Custer, SD on May 17th. The Custer Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Tesla Road Trip. This event is the sixth annual Tesla Road Trip Rally and still the only one of its kind in the United States. Each Spring Custer State Park along with the rest of the state park system celebrates the beginning of another summer season with the annual Open House Weekend. This weekend, enjoy free entrance into all South Dakota state parks and recreation areas. In addition, a number of park will be hosting special events to kick off the summer. Camping fees still apply. This weekend is also Free Fishing Weekend. No fishing licenses are required. Regulations and limits still apply.

Legends in Light Laser Show | Crazy Horse Memorial

“Legends in Light” the Crazy Horse Memorial® multimedia laser-light show is presented nightly, at dark, from Memorial Day weekend through September 29th.
