Nature Day Camp – Kids Fishing Day

Participants will learn how to tie a fishing knot, take part in a casting contest, learn some tricks for cleaning the catch, make fish prints to take home, and of course GO FISHING! Wear clothes that can get wet, bring a water bottle, sunscreen and a snack. Reservations are required and must be made by calling the Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center at 605-255-4464. Fee for this event: $Free, but pre-registration is required.

When many animals are nocturnal (awake at night) and most people are diurnal (awake during the day), it can be a mystery figuring out where an animal was going and what it was doing when only foot prints are left behind. 54th Annual Buffalo Auction

Each November, Custer State Park auctions between 200 and 500 head of live buffalo. Buyers and spectators from around the United States come to watch and participate in the annual auction. Buffalo are generally purchased to supplement an existing herd, to start a herd, or to eat. The auction is held at the park's Visitor Center with live and online bidding.
