From June 5 through August 21, every Monday night at 8 p.m., Main Street Square in downtown Rapid City hosts Movies Under the Stars. Families bring chairs and blankets and relax in Main Street Square to watch a children’s movie played on a large screen. Parents can create memories with their children and relive the excitement of drive in movies. Kids will be excited to watch a movie outside surrounded by other families!
Movies begin at dusk, which is usually around 8-8:30 p.m. Movie showings are dependent on the weather – showings being cancelled in bad or severe circumstances. The best part? The event is completely free!
In an interview with KEVN Black Hills FOX, Movies Under the Stars president Leah Bifulco said, “Every year we get bigger and bigger and bigger as our word grows about how popular this is for the kids and that it’s a free activity. And it’s great because families can come down there. They can bring food and just sit and enjoy a movie for free every Monday night.”
