Wine Tasting

The Black Hills may not seem like a top destination for wine aficionados, but there are plenty of renowned wineries tucked away in the hills. Hill City has a large concentration of wineries, so it is the ideal destination to sip on some interesting locally-made wines!

Prairie Berry Winery, Hill City

Prairie Berry allows guests to enjoy a free wine tasting of up to five wines. They produce a wide variety of wines for every palate. Their popular wines include Red Ass Rhubarb, Wild Bill Wine, Calamity Jane Wine, and 3Rednecks. Sipping Wild Bill Wine from Prairie Berry is an authentic South Dakota moment that can’t be missed!

Naked Winery, Hill City

Naked Winery has a large selection of grape wines and a few select fruit wines. The tasting room allows kids to taste test ice cream while the adults enjoy the wine. There are tasting rooms in both Hill City and Custer

Twisted Pine Winery, Hill City

Twisted Pine has a huge selection of local wine from Schade Winery, Calico Skies Winery, Firehouse Winery, Prairie Berry Winery, Strawbale Winery, Wild Prairie Winery, and more. They offer both wine tastings and a large variety of craft beers on tap.

Firehouse Winery, Rapid City

Firehouse is downtown in the middle of all the action, but their winery is laid back and posh. They make a variety of reds and whites, including one of the few made exclusively from grapes grown right here in the Black Hills.

Belle Joli Sparkling House, Sturgis

Belle Joli makes wine using traditional champagne methods at their modern Sparkling House, which overlooks the five acre vineyard.
