Day 2:

Black Hills Bagels, Rapid City

The best way to begin a day of adventures is with a warm bagel. Family-owned Black Hills Bagels has 28 varieties of bagels, all fresh and made from scratch, and 18 flavors of cream cheese.

Journey Museum and Learning Center, Rapid City

The Journey Museum teaches about Black Hills history and paleontology. They host a variety of events, so check their event calendar for complete listings.

Prepare to spend 1-2 hours.
Tips: Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $7 for students age 6-17, and free for children 5 and under.

Dinosaur Museum, Rapid City

The Dinosaur Museum has over 98 ancient reptiles from 65 species, an educational movie theater, mirror maze, and a fossil digging area.

Prepare to spend 1-2 hours.

Tips: Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $8 for children 4-12, and free for children 3 and under.

Dinosaur Park, Rapid City

Opened in 1936, Dinosaur Park is one of Rapid City’s oldest tourist attractions. The park has seven life-size concrete dinosaurs, views for 100 miles, and a seasonal gift shop and visitor center.

Prepare to spend less than 1 hour.

Admission is free.

Museum at the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research, Hill City

The Museum at the Black Hills Institute has an impressive collection of dinosaurs, fossils, and minerals from around the world. Visitors can step back in time to learn about life in the age of the dinosaurs.

Prepare to spend 1-2 hours.
Tips: Admission is $7.50 for adults 16 and older, $6 for seniors and military, $4 for kids 6-15, and free for kids 5 and under. Each paid admission grants entry for a year.

Dakota Stone Rock Shop, Hill City

At Dakota Stone Rock Shop, children can pan for 40 different gemstones and minerals and 32 fossil specimens, hunt for hidden treasure in the underground mine, and tour an exact replica of a Black Hills mine shaft. The shop has a large selection of reasonably priced rocks.

Alpine Inn, Hill City

Alpine Inn has a limited menu of American and German dishes. The decor is elegant and tasteful.

Prepare to spend 1 hour.
Tips: Closed on Sunday.
